TRUMP STUNNED! — SUPREME COURT RULES 8-1 THAT HE CAN… SHOCKING RULING SENDS WAVES THROUGH WASHINGTON – ctiiwatchdaily.com

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 on Tuesday that foreign plaintiffs cannot use the Alien Tort Statute or the Torture Victim Protection Act to sue American companies for allegedly aiding and abetting human rights abuses abroad, sharply restricting the ability of international claimants to pursue claims in domestic courts over technology sales and commercial ties to foreign regimes.

The decision in Cisco Systems, Inc. v. Doe (No. 24-856) reversed a Ninth Circuit ruling that had allowed unnamed practitioners of Falun Gong, a religious movement banned by the Chinese government, to proceed with claims that Cisco Systems and its executives provided surveillance and networking infrastructure to aid Beijing authorities in persecuting and torturing them. The litigation centered on whether federal courts possessed constitutional authority to recognize new causes of action under statutes designed to address human rights violations occurring overseas.
